Half Marathon and Walkers
(13 miles 192.5 yards - Accurately Measured)
The main race of the day is the Half Marathon, which is accurately measured at a distance of 13 miles and 192.5 yards.
The course is undulating. It is ideal for beginners and excellent for seasoned runners wanting to improve their personal best times.
The route commences through the town of Stranraer and then meanders out into the beautiful picturesque countryside of Wigtownshire, Dumfries and Galloway.
The course records are held by:
- Stephen Wylie, Cambuslang in 1 hr 8 minutes, 35 seconds in 2003
- Jill Shannon, Laggan Valley in 1 hr 21 minutes 16 seconds in 2005.
The races commence at the following times:
- Half Marathon Walkers – 9.30am - £15.00 / £13.00** scottishathletic members
(Please note: the Walkers element is part of the main half marathon race, commencing 1 hour in advance of the main field). - Half Marathon – 10.30am - £15.00 / £13.00** scottishathletic members
NB: Entries for this race will be accepted on the day of the event, but an extra £2.00 handling fee will be added. No Half Marathon team entries will be accepted on the day of the event.
